For tradespeople (claiming a listing)
How do I claim my listing?
Find your business on besttrades.wales (search by name or browse your town's page), click "Claim this listing" on your profile, and verify ownership via a domain-matching email (e.g. an address ending in your business website domain), or by being listed as a director on Companies House for the registered company. Approval is typically same-day.
Is claiming free?
Yes, claiming is completely free, no contract, no card required. You stay on the free tier indefinitely. Premium (£29/month) is optional and adds visibility, contact-detail visibility, and a premium badge.
What's the difference between free and premium?
Premium (£29/month): contact details (phone, email, website) shown directly. Featured placement near the top of your trade × city page. Premium badge. Priority placement in the regional aggregate pages. Detailed analytics dashboard (coming soon).
How do I update my listing details after claiming?

I don't want to be listed. How do I get removed?
Do you verify accreditations (Gas Safe, NICEIC, FMB)?
No. Our checks are Companies House and Google Business Profile only, so we hold no accreditation number for any listing and we do not query the trade-body registers. We tell homeowners to ask you for your registration number and look it up on the issuing body's own register, which is free for anyone to search.
Where do the homeowner leads come from?
Organic search, homeowners find your city × trade page via Google for queries like "plumbers Cardiff" or "find a roofer in Swansea" and submit a quote request through the form on that page. The lead is routed to your business based on trade match + postcode coverage. Premium listings get preference when multiple businesses match.
For homeowners
Is besttrades.wales free to use?
Yes, completely free for homeowners. No sign-up needed to browse listings or request quotes. No booking fees, no service charges. We make money from optional premium subscriptions paid by tradespeople, never from you.
How do I request a quote?
Find a business or a trade × city page (e.g. /plumbers-cardiff/) and use the quote form. Provide your job description, postcode, and how to contact you. The lead goes directly to qualifying businesses in your area, usually 3 quotes within 48 hours.
How do you verify the businesses listed?
Every listing is cross-checked against public records: Google Business Profile for review history and location, and Companies House for active registration where the business is a registered company. Many Welsh tradespeople are sole traders with no Companies House record; those are listed only if their Google Business Profile carries the weight instead. We do not check accreditation body membership, so ask the business for its registration number and verify it on the issuing body's own register before hiring.
Why do some listings hide their phone number?
Phone and email are hidden by default for unclaimed listings, those businesses haven't yet confirmed they want to be contacted directly. Use the "Request a quote" form on the listing page instead; we forward the enquiry. Claimed and premium listings show contact details directly.
Can I leave a review for a tradesperson?
Reviews live on the business's Google Business Profile (we surface the count and rating). Leaving a Google review is the most useful thing you can do, it helps other Welsh homeowners + boosts that business's ranking on Google itself, not just here.
How do I report a problem with a business?
About the directory
Who runs besttrades.wales?
How is data sourced?
Business listings: Companies House (UK Gov), Google Business Profile, and homeowner-submitted recommendations. Accreditations are not one of our sources: we do not collect or check them. No paid placements affect ranking, premium subscribers get featured visibility, not artificial ranking lift.
